Newgate School Celebrates 50 Years
Located in Minneapolis, MN, Newgate School is a non-profit technical school providing free training in Auto Body and Auto Mechanic disciplines for lower-income and underserved young adults. Many of these students can't afford post-secondary training and have a difficult time finding well-paying jobs to support themselves or their families. Students who enroll at our school get full hands-on training thanks to donated vehicles. They can learn the skills to get entry-level mechanic jobs within about 12 to 18 months. We usually train around 30 students at a time.
Highly Successful Personalized Training Program
Our highly skilled instructors are master-level technicians who are incredibly good at sharing knowledge with students. Our training program is focused on individual students with a small ratio between instructors and students. Every student gets the opportunity to work on multiple cars before they graduate, thanks to donated vehicles. Our staff ensures that every student understands the importance of attendance, arriving on time, and working as a team. These are all important factors in having a successful career.
